Spirit of the West

Victoria’s de Vine Spirits and Sitka Clothing & Board Company announce the release of Sitka Vodka, with partial proceeds going to the Sitka Society for Conservation.

Sitka Vodka is made from de Vine’s own wine grapes, distilled three times, and infused with wild-gathered spruce tips, sassafras, and juniper.  Distiller Ken Winchester was inspired by Island camping trips to places like Bamfield, Englishman River, and French Beach. “We wanted this spirit to taste like a walk in the forest.”

de Vine produced a dozen bottles of Sitka Vodka for a fundraiser in 2015, and the spirit was such a hit that the two companies plotted for a year to release it for sale. Five dollars from every bottle will go to conservation efforts in BC, such as The Ancient Forest Alliance.

Sitka Vodka will be officially released on August 5 at Sitka’s flagship store on 1219 Government Street, from 7pm to 10pm. The spirit will be available at de Vine Vineyards in Saanichton, and select liquor retail stores.
