(News Release) VICTORIA — The Vancouver Island Aerospace Association is marketing Vancouver Island to the world at Canada’s Premier Defense Trade Show, May 27-28, 2015 in Ottawa.
Vice President, Scott Dewis (CEO of RaceRocks 3D) and Treasurer, Ray Brougham (President of Prototype Equipment Design) will travel to Ottawa to market their companies as well as the VIAA to over 30 International countries, and every major Western Aerospace player attending CANSEC. Brougham will then continue on to Montreal to bid on a multi-year contract with Bombardier that would see cooperation between industry, UVIC’s Center for Aerospace Research (CfAR and Camosun College.
Brougham sees the VIAA as an “Integrator which will announce Vancouver Island as a credible supply base” to Boeing, Bombardier and Airbus. In the recent BC Budget 2015, The Ministry of Transportation committed to provide $5 million over five years to expand B.C.’s world-class Aerospace cluster. Rob O’Brien,the Ministry Director of International Business Development, supports the Aerospace sector because BC is competitive in global markets, and the industry creates well-paying jobs in British Columbia.
