Delta Victoria Ocean Pointe announced last week that the hotel is nearing completion of major renovations to the 240 guestrooms, in time to celebrate the Vic West resort’s 20th anniversary.
The $14-million investment will include a complete redesign of the rooms to provide spaces that are modern, adaptable, and full of technology features.
The versatile new design is aimed at design-conscious travellers who want to live, work, and connect on their own terms. Today’s traveller wants a hotel that allows them to incorporate travel into their life as seamlessly as possible.
The new guestroom design, called ModeRoom, is inspired by the Canadian landscape, with fresh and modern colour palettes and a focus on maximizing natural light. The rooms balance functionality and adaptability — as exemplified by the new SmartDesk, a fully wired, multi-purpose area that provides guests with a clutter-free space, built-in power and connectivity dock, and links from your laptop and mobile devices to the flat-screen, high-definition TV. The renovated rooms will also include glass-enclosed walk-in spa-showers.
“The renovation is an important evolution for the hotel as we celebrate our 20th anniversary,” says general manager Kimberley Hughes. “Today’s travellers expect a different experience than travelers in years past. They expect to be able to work or stay connected to friends and family no matter where they are, and our new design will better enable guests to have that seamless experience when they stay at Delta.”
The design also features subtle and thoughtful touches to help guests feel at home. From conveniently placed shelves and hooks in the entry way, to pinpoint reading lights in the headboard, to custom bathroom vanities that leave lots of space for guest belongings, to bedside docking for your smartphone devices, the goal of Delta’s ModeRoom design is to give travelers a sense of comfort that is easily adapted to suit their needs.
Delta’s ModeRoom will also feature Philosophy Amenities skin-care products, making the chain one of the first in the world to introduce this line into hotels, with exclusivity in Canada.
The guestroom renovation is one part of a much larger renovation for the property, which will include new exterior façade on the building, newly furbished meeting rooms and a complete renovation of the ballroom facilities.
“The extensive renovations will reposition the Delta Victoria Ocean Pointe Resort as the product leader within the local hotel market,” says Hughes. “We are excited to offer our guests the most modern and recently renovated hotel product in Victoria.”
The new guestrooms will be offered in four categories: ModeDeluxe, ModeClub, and ModeSuites. The ModeClub rooms will offer upgraded services and amenities including turndown service and exclusive access to a private lounge featuring evening hors d’oeuvres and deluxe continental breakfast.
Renovations are being overseen by the design firm HOK and completed by local contractors CT1 Construction. The renovated guestrooms are currently available for guests.
