The Professional Golfers Association (PGA) of British Columbia named Cordova Bay Golf Course the Facility of the Year at the annual BC Golf Awards in Penticton last month.
The honour comes on the heels of Cordova Bay Golf Course superintendent Dean Piller being named the Canadian Superintendent of the Year by the Canadian Golf Superintendents Association.
Opened in 1991, Cordova Bay Golf Course is about to enter its 20th golf season. Over its years of operations, the public course has been committed to providing quality course conditions and an enjoyable experience for novice and experienced golfers.
Furthermore, Cordova Bay Golf Course has engaged in strict environmental management practises resulting in the course being the first on the Island to become a “Certified Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary” in 2005. As a result of these initiatives, the course is home to 73 species of birds, all overseen by resident mascot Hrundi, a talking myna bird who presides over the clubhouse.
