Lone Tree Properties Ltd., a subsidiary of Storm Mountain Development Corporation, announced today the launch of the first phase of The Foothills in Lantzville B.C.  Located minutes from the BC Ferry terminal in Nanaimo, Lantzville (pop: 3,700) is a small town community that hugs the Strait of Georgia between Vancouver Island and the Lower Mainland.

This is the first phase of a four phase, 1838 acre, master-planned community. The community is currently zoned for 730 homes, a mixed-use village area, and a 900-acre park. The first and third phases will be solely residential, the second, a range of residential and full mixed-use villageand the final phase will include acreages and ranchettes.

“We are so excited to be launching our first phase of real estate as a lot of time has been spent with the planners and the community getting the master plan right,” says Allard Ockeloen, Chief Executive Officer, Lone Tree Properties Ltd. “Being able to provide people with this opportunity to live in such a beautiful location is truly exciting.”

The first launch of phase one includes 77 residential home sites. These homes are located on the north area of the site, closest to the existing neighbourhoods in Lantzville.  Homes will be built by local high-quality builders and are expected to be family oriented and high-end with spectacular views. Residential home site prices range from $250,000 to over $500,000 with the majority of home sites being in the low $300,000 range.

The Foothills will be the gateway to the highlands of Lantzville, and the rich array of recreation experiences the area offers. Home owners will find the best of Island living, including outdoor experiences, food, education, arts and culture. Designed to foster a broad range of social interactions and vibrancy, the beauty of the landscape will be preserved, and will provide a memorable island setting for all stages of life.

In 2015, a new team of industry experts was assembled to move the project now known as The Foothills to construction. The project had been delayed when the previous developer had financial difficulties as a result of the 2008 recession. Between 2011-2013, Lone Tree Properties Ltd., put the project back together and began working with the District of Lantzville on a new process and agreements for development. A framework for a new Phased Development Agreement with the District of Lantzville was negotiated in 2014 ensuring The Foothills will set ambitious social and sustainability goals that will influence all aspects of community design.

Extensive environmental studies have been conducted on the land to distinguish where the development interacts with sensitive areas and what the best practices are to ensure minimum to no impact. Construction will be conducted carefully and progress will be gradual in order to avoid major impacts to the community members.

The Foothills will offer the perfect mix of rural and urban lifestyle. Lantzville provides a truly small town feel while only being minutes away from one of Vancouver Islands largest shopping and commercial areas, Nanaimo.

Beyond shopping, residents of The Foothills will be in close proximity to recreation in the mountains of the Foothills and the UNESCO Mount Arrowsmith Biosphere Reserve, hundreds of miles of coastline, beaches, waterfront communities and many small islands as well as the world renowned beauty of Tofino and Pacific Rim National Park and the internationally recognized Vancouver Island University. Home owners can easily go skiing at Mt Washington with views of the ocean or visit a rich world of artisan food and drink in nearby areas known as “the Provence of Canada”.

The Foothills will offer the perfect setting for those seeking a beautiful island home with aspirations to live a more active life and enjoy the nature that surrounds them.
